Alongside the achingly-hip Clapham High Street’s selection of bars, trendy pubs and swish eateries, cheesy throwback club Infernos makes for an odd sight. However the décor is more converted 1970s disco than a pretence to ‘ironic retro’, with the music policy unremarkable and the drink prices predictably high (around £4 for a single and mixer or a bottle of beer). The sheer size of the place might put some off, but the mix of leathered, unpretentious clientele keeps the atmosphere friendly. There are better clubs in the area, and London as a whole, but there’s nothing substantially offensive to deter all but the most discerning revellers. Jim Ranger, MyVillage

"Not a nice place at all. Music same old, saw a few fights as well. I would never goto this place again, Dj was boring and predictable. "

"If cheap and tacky is your thing then this place is perfect, however once the night gets going then all is well, eventually you won’t care about the interior looking like a dump and the really depressed looking goldfish housed in the middle of the club, the night begins with an outrageous £10 fee (cash only), the dress code is, well I don’t think there is one I even saw a guy enter with flip flops which highlights just how relaxed this place is, you then make you way to the bar and get charged an absolute bomb (looks like an expensive night out), as you make your way to the dance floor the DJ’s tunes fill the air and what a disappointment they are, mostly chart toppers nothing special, finally to end the toilets are nasty stuff, my advice go find a tree! The only way to enjoy this place is to get absolutely wasted but steer clear if you have high standards."

"This is the worst club i have been to in my life, I have just got back from there and I felt compelled even at 3am to write a review as this place is so dire.

DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to witness hell on earth although perhaps that is why it has been aptly named "Infernos"..."

"Nothing wrong with 30 year old women mate, at least they're not all clones like the youngsters!!! If you want kids go to practically any bar and you can be surrounded by them!"

"Went there for our Xmas night out and loved it!! If you're looking to stand posing all night in a bar that crams in about 500 people more than it can house, plays 'cool' music and lots of girlies everywhere... then don't go, but if you want to let your hair down, have a laugh, dance to some unusual tunes, be in a good atmosphere and if you want the men to totally outnumber the women :-) - you can't often find that anymore - then go to Infernos!

I don't understand the people on here running down the sticky carpet, cheesey music etc, there are not many proper big nightclubs left, it's ALL bars and posy places so please let us have just ONE place to go for a laugh! Thank God for Infernos! We had a great night, it's like going back in time, it looks exactly like Southsides and we had some good times there, and it's like an old-skool club when you used to be able to go out and dance and mix with the opposite sex rather than just stand still coz it's too packed to move, and look at the men from a distance. It could've been 1996 all over again and that's no bad thing!!! We'll be going back..."

"Infernos is always fun and a great place to dance the night away. Whats wrong with being a 30 year old! Be careful of your mobile phone while you're in there. "

"best club in london... what? i can remember so clearly what it was like; walked in completely pissed and left totally sober! once your feet come unstuck from the sticky carpet, a hot steamy smell of feet smacks you in the face just after you've paid a £10 to get in.

yeah drinks aren't that expensive... they come in a plastic shot cup though, i advise you just down that at the bar and get yourself a water-probably stronger. take a look amongst the mist and all around its full of desperate oldies! awful place."

"Infernos is expensive but it's a nightclub in London so what do you expect? You're not students anymore. The truth is Infernos is an extension of student union nightclubs, attracting graduates and city workers up to around 30.

Yes it's a meat market but that's why most people go! The music is fun and not to be taken seriously. Expect lots of sports teams to end up there after their games, sticky carpets and LOTS of pissed people. It's fun though and a good rite-of-passage for those new to London. "

"This place has got to be the worst club in Europe, possibly the world.

£10 to get in, sticky carpets. Expensive drinks.
Topless tossers and skanky women.
Rugby shirts everywhere.
Music reminds me of weddings or office parties.
Unless you are wasted and want to pull a 30 year old woman avoid at all costs."

""I LOVE Infernos so much, its the best club in South London, it's the place to get jiggy and leave with some of the hottest talents around. Its fresh, cool and wack, don't miss Thursday night they often have a themed student night, which KICKS ass!" From Lizzie and Eliza, the original Clapham-ites. ""

""What do you want from your late night soiree?
To hear the best new tunes by up and coming dj's whilst drinking the most exquisitely mixed cocktails surrounded by beautiful and famous people sporting the latest fashions?
You could also want populist tunes to move to from the last 25 years, medium priced booze and a satisfactory male female ratio with everyone up for a laugh and perhaps more?
Leave your inhibitions, your ego and your good taste in music at the door.
You'll love it! ""
