Have to agree with Zena. I've been many times to Strada and every time I leave the restaurant with a smile on my face after a really good meal. The pizza is truly Italian, the service is professional and the dessert selection is really mouth watering. One of my favourite ''pizzeria'' in London.

I have not enjoyed a meal out in London so much for ages - and this comes from a v fussy semi - vegetarian (I eat fish), who never usually manage to find more than one course edible, let alone find 3 that I would rave about. But everything about La Strada was fantastic, from the wine and the food itself to the lighting and politeness of the staff, all at a reasonable price.I always try and eat fish when I go to an Italian, as being veggie, I get fed up with the whole cheese and tomato pizza and pasta and pesto regime, which I usually cook at home to much better effect than the usual bland tomato sauce on overcooked pasta with a big bundle of basil plonked on top, that you often get in London restaurants. So I usually go for fish, which is full of pitholes; my partner and friends know this all too well by now and have started to dread it on my behalf. I have had them all and try and get round them by asking in advance if the fish is filleted, or comes whole, does it have bones? etc. And if it does miraculously come to my plate in an edible fashion then you can guarantee there will be no freshly ground black pepper and lemon juice with it and it will be either slightly over or under cooked and smelling stronger than it should. However, the tuna steak I had in La Strada was perfect, with a simple, not very filling accompaniment of a crunchy endive salad. This course I would recommend for people, who are more concerned about eating something perfectly satisfying in the taste department rather than eating something mediocre with buckets of chips or veg. No bones, no horrible over seasoned tomato sauce that tastes like week old Dolmio, just gorgeous, fresh perfectly grilled fish and a tangy, zesty dressing. And as for the desert, all I can say is that only my partner has ever heard me make that noise, and my friends were looking quite alarmed, until they could see that I was actually writhing in ecstasy over the tiramisu. I kind of sneered at it at first as it looks as though it has been cut out of a supermarket box and plonked on the plate, but it definitely tastes like nothing that Sainsbury's has or will ever have in its chilled cabinets. To finish this glowing review I would also like to rave about the mini breadsticks, pesto covered bread stuff and the red wine. Service was not always spot on, but quite polite and friendly and moderately fast which is a miracle in itself in many London restaurants. The ambience was perfect - busy and fairly lively without making it so you have to shout, and lighting fairly dim, but light enough so you can see whether you have got what you have ordered. All that remains to be said is that I am definitely going back... I just hope the zillion other Claphamites haven't got there first after reading this
